We want to invite scouts and cub scouts to our first Scout Night at the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site!

 

6:00 PM  Cub Scouts

Explore the land before time by actually seeing the shore of a giant lake that used to exist here in St. George! Imagine living in a time when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. What have paleontologists learned about the great beasts that roamed the Earth millions of years ago? Find out which dinosaurs lived where we do now. Find out what they ate, where they lived, and how they moved. What could we learn of these creatures that lived so long ago? Visit the museum where dinosaur fossils can be seen. Make your own "dinosaur footprints" or "fossils" and work towards the Geology belt loop and pin.

Due to the space restrictions in the classroom and along the walkways, we must limit this to 100 attendees. 7:00 PM Scouts

The current display, "Fossils in Our Backyard," focuses on much of the historical geology of our region as well as highlighting the laws regarding fossil collection or castings, a topic not well understood by many.  With the scout requirement suggesting a collection of fossil plants and animals, it should be mandatory for all scouts to learn these principles and laws.   Short  lectures will be planned to aid in acquiring the Geology merit badge, tour guides will be available to walk through with groups and answer questions, and prep lab examples will be available that are not normally seen by museum visitors.

Due to the space restrictions in the classroom and along the walkways, we must limit the number of attendees.
